HRH the Prince Father Biography Hall |
Determined to Study for the Sake of National Development |
The display of HRH the Prince Father’s life when he had to leave his homeland to further his studies in a foreign land shows that he was determined to study as planned by HM King Chulalongkorn who sent him to study in Europe where the prince went to Harrow boarding school in England to study basic subjects. After that he became a military cadet at the Royal Prussian Military Preparatory College in Potsdam, Germany before furthering his studies at the Imperial Military Academy in Gross Lichterfelde, Berlin, Germany. During his senior year at the academy in Berlin, HRH Prince Mahidol Aduldej wished to take up studies at a naval institute and he passed the qualifying examination to become a Fähnrich (an ensign), a condition required by Germany’s Emperor, Wilhelm II. With that, he was granted imperial permission to further his studies as a naval cadet in the Imperial German Navy. |
