The display represents results of HRH Prince Mahidol Aduldej’s vision in that he granted scholarships for medical students to further their studies abroad, as he saw the importance of improving the medical school by recruitment of able teaching staff of international standard. He gave Thai students studying in the United States of America care as well as spiritual support. Regardless of his high royal status, the prince treated all the students with kindness and compassion. This brought him an opportunity to be close to Miss Sangwan Talabhat, a nursing scholarship student, who later became his life companion. During his studies, he was periodically ill but was still determined to study hard without allowing his illness to obstruct him. He returned to Thailand for a period of time upon completion of his studies in Public Health. He represented Thailand in negotiations with the Rockefeller Foundation on the improvement of a medical study program in Thailand. |
