The display shows HRH Prince Mahidol Aduldej’s final example of his resolute determination to help his fellow humans. After having worked as a doctor at McCormick Hospital for merely three weeks, he had to travel back to Bangkok to be present at the royal cremation of HRH Krom Phraya Bhanuphand Wongworadej. He truly intended to return to Chiang Mai and resume his duty as a doctor there, following the royal cremation. But this never materialized as he had wished because HRH Prince Mahidol Aduldej became ill with amoebic liver abscess, while his kidney disease acted up, causing him to undergo treatment at Sapathum Palace for as long as four months.
With his condition taking a turn for the worse, HRH Prince Mahidol Aduldej passed away at Sapathum Palace on September 24, 1929. |
