This zone describes Prince of Songkla University in its first stage of becoming a complete university both physically and academically, beginning with the King’s gracious bestowing of the name “Prince of Songkla” on the establishment, the receiving of land in Pattani donated for the construction of the Faculty of Engineering, which was later found not to be able to withstand heavy equipment needed, and hence the Faculty of Education was constructed there instead, while the Faculty of Engineering had to move to Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, on a piece of land donated by Lady Long Atthakrawisunthon, and the story of the trip from Bangkok to Pattani Province of the first batch of Faculty of Education students on November 9, 1968. The life of Prof. Dr. Stang Mongkolsuk, the key person in the establishment of PSU, the colorful life of the students in both Pattani and Hat Yai campuses, and the relationship between students and local people as well as community development as a result of the university’s establishment, are also displayed here. |
